PROJECT / ASSIGNMENT BRIEF
The Brief
Assignment 4 – Spatial Walkthrough
Duration of Assignment
Week 10 to Week 13
DEADLINE
Week 13
Description
This final assignment, students are required to create a minimum 30 second animation of the fully rendered 3d
model of the earlier assignment. Student will be accessed on the appropriate use of animation techniques and
commands in key framing and camera path setting, in producing and animation walkthrough of a three
dimensional space.
Submission
Post their animation in youtube and blog the title of project, name, student’s id and course name together with a
CD/digital copy containing the original animation files
Submit only to your respective lecturers. Ensure that you received a receipt from the lecturers when submitting
your work. Also, ensure that you have completed and submitted your Archive form to your lecturers.
Portfolio
The portfolio is a visual diary of your learning process that demonstrates achievements of a range of learning
outcomes in this module. Students are required to compile, refine and reorganize all works produced in this
module. Include your reflective thinking, research and information related to this module throughout this semester.
Your portfolio submission should include:
- 1 A3 bounded document
- Blog (website)
- 1 digital copy in CD/DVD format.

PROJECT / ASSIGNMENT BRIEF
The Brief
Assignment 3 – Lightings, Camera and Rendering the 3D Model
Duration
Week 8-10
DEADLINE
Week 10
Description
This assignment requires the students to produce quality 3d visualization of the earlier completed 3d model.
Student will be assessed on their creativity to set the mood and lighting ambience and camera angle and setting;
and the appropriate setting for basic rendering and mental ray rendering.
Submission
Print out the proposal

This lesson is about light ! Yeah~ the lesson I have been waiting for :D

We were asked to create a plane and 3 boxes. And then create a target spot light to shine on the boxes

To adjust the brightness of the light. And have to adjust the intensity, as default the intensity is normally 1.0

If you would like you object to glow by itself, you would have to assign a material that self illuminates to it.
Material> Standard > Architectural > Adjust the self illuminate ( at the bottom)

You can add special effects too, like putting a picture and the light would project it out.

Next trick was to learn how to adjust the far and near attenuation, and the shadow effect.

Not only that, you can change the color of the lighting and add a picture so that it is being projected.

Instead of printing it out, we had to do a presentation board.

These are the close up view of my space, consist of the reception , social area, stairs and dormitory. Enjoy :D

This is the first assignment given by my lecturer.

PROJECT / ASSIGNMENT BRIEF
The Brief
Assignment 1 : Cad 3d Modeling
Duration
Week 1 - 5
DEADLINE
Week 5
Description
This assignment requires the students to create a 3D model of a selected interior architecture project. Students
will be assessed on the 3d modification of 2d drawings with the appropriate and effective use of the Autocad
software.
Submission
Print out the proposal in A4 and submit it with a cover that contains the title of project, name, student’s id and
course name.

These are the side view, plan and front facade of my final product.

There is also this neat trick that my lecturer taught me when i needed to put specific material on a specific surface, you have to go to modify and on the plane, from the amount of segments you have you can choose which face you would like the material to be!

After you render the image, it would look like this :D

This lesson is about putting in materials into the object. Here i have created a swimming pool with a rectangular and using boolean to create a hole.

Another plan was created inside the rectangular to act as the water, materials ( such as tiles) was dragged into the object. The water was created by using user defined > water.

A bit of light could be seen coming out of the swimming pool because an omni light was added to create an ambience.

In order to make the pool more realistic, you can add a modifier ( Ripple) to the plane and adjest the wave length to your desired length.

M : Maerial Editor
Modes > compact material ( easier to use)

Standard > Architectural > Bitmap
This is for you to use your own picture as your material, instead of the material given.

In order to increase the number of material , the round ball thingy
Option> cycle 3x2, 5x4 , 6x4

You can also select special kind of material that mental ray provides, but you can only use mental ray to render the image and not scanline or any other renderer.

Standard> Architectural> User Defined > mirror/water/ ceramic...etc
there are so many options to choose from, this will give you a special kind of texture, for example if it is a mirror, it will be a reflective surface and transparent ( something like a mirror)
We learned how to do the basic forms, using boxes and other geometry shapes. There is also another way to form an object , which is by using splines ( located at create).

After drawing a rectangular box, you can extrude them, forming a 3D object.

When you press f3, your screen will appear like this, its like an x-ray vision where you can see through your objects. Isn't it cool?

When you get familiar with the tools, you can create anything you can imagine. This is my first try out for a roller chair. hahaha

This is a house in progress, just a mini exercise that my lecturer gave us and i thought this was hard. boy was I wrong. =.= It gets even better. stay tuned!

In order to attach lines together, you have to select a line from H and then go to modify > Geometry > Attach.

Detach is at the bottom of the Geometry.
